W3LL People

Like most people, Earth Day always inspires me to renew my commitment to living a greener, cleaner life. Unfortunately, green cosmetics have always been a tough sell as they never seemed to work as well as my old standbys—until I discovered W3LL People. Their collection of luxe, all-natural beauty products have quickly become a staple in my makeup bag. Check out my blog post on the eco-friendly beauty brand on Birchbox.com.

AFE Awareness Day

The first time I heard of “Amniotic Fluid Embolism” (AFE) was March 15, 2012. My best friend, Megan, was at the hospital to deliver her baby when she suffered from an AFE that took her life, and almost took her son.

To say I was shocked and devastated would be an understatement. Megan was young, healthy, and just hours before had been sending me text messages telling me how excited she was to meet her baby boy. I’m grateful her spirit lives on in her two beautiful sons. Her loss has left has left an immeasurable hole in my life and all who knew her.

Amniotic Fluid Embolism affects 1 in 40,000 women during childbirth, yet it remains poorly understood and most often fatal. As today, March 27th, is AFE Awareness Day, I want to honor Megan and everyone who has been affected by this horrible condition.
